Vote ‘no’ on eligible voter amendment
Kathy Marr, Fort Atkinson
It’s been proven repeatedly: Wisconsin has safe and secure elections with safeguards to ensure only eligible voters are voting. This amendment is just a way for legislators to create a problem that doesn’t exist and use fear as a tactic to further divide us.
Reject Project 2025
Patt Heise, Williams Bay
Former president Donald Trump has tried to distance himself from Project 2025, the 922-page document from the ultraconservative Heritage Foundation, describing what the next Republican administration will do.
Fitzgerald endorsement: ‘Joan shares my values’
Cynthia Holt, Fort Atkinson
Joan shares my values and the values of Jefferson County and Wisconsin: Respectful communication with neighbors and constituents, hard working ethic to find solutions to improve the lives of as many citizens as possible, and reaching across the aisle to get things done.
Ratcliff endorses Fitzgerald to become her successor in Assembly District 46
State Representative Melissa Ratcliff
I am strongly supporting Joan Fitzgerald for State Assembly in District 46. This new district includes Fort Atkinson, Lake Mills, Cambridge, Cottage Grove, Marshall, and Waterloo. During her two terms on the Jefferson County Board, Joan supported rural communities and farmers.
Covering Trump brings “Damage to the Republican Party’s Soul”
Terry Hansen, Milwaukee
By covering for him, you and other prominent members of the GOP have allowed Donald Trump to damage the Republican Party’s soul. The word that comes to mind is shame.
Gaslighting: Psychological Manipulation
Peter Watts, Watertown
Donald Trump gave us a fine example of gaslighting in his Pennsylvania rally speech on Sept. 23, saying that he would be a “protector of women.” This is a perfect example of gaslighting. On May 9, 2023, a jury found the disgraced ex-president guilty of defamation and sexual abuse.
Republicans must push back against Trump’s lies
Terry L. Hansen, Milwaukee
Bryan Steil is continually promoting initiatives to increase “election integrity.” If Steil was really concerned about this issue, he would push back against the false narrative about stolen elections relentlessly pushed by former president Donald Trump that has created so much doubt in the eyes of many Americans.
Presidential Medal of Freedom ‘much better’ than Medal of Honor?
John H Callan, Fort Atkinson
The former President declared the Presidential Medal of Freedom to be “much better” than the Medal of Honor because those who receive the latter are “either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit by bullets or they’re dead.”
Who in Wisconsin would vote for Trump?
Ben Adams, Watertown
His recent rants about turning back the clock to the 50s with a strong addition of autocracy are troubling to say the least. It made me wonder, again, who in Wisconsin would vote for him?
‘Climate change poses great threats,’ so why do we risk it?
Terry L. Hansen, Milwaukee
Former president Donald Trump mocks the threat posed by human-induced climate change. He once declared, “Global warming is an expensive hoax!” And Trump can find support for his views among Republican members of Congress.
