Our democracy is built on the freedom of everyone — regardless of zip code, color of skin or economic status — to have a say in the decisions that affect their lives. Our democracy works when our leaders value the input of everyone and, through robust discussion, pass laws that the majority favors.

However, we now have leaders who are enacting restrictive voting laws which are an attack on our democracy and on the right of all voices to be heard. We have leaders who are willing to erect barriers to overlook the will of the majority and silence the voices of many of us.

This is why we need to support the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. These measures would protect voting rights, decrease the influence of money in politics, and establish national standards to ensure everyone has the freedom to vote.

Please call Sen. Tammy Baldwin at (202) 224-5653 and Sen. Ron Johnson at (202) 224-5323 and ask them to vote Yes on these important bills. Stand up for democracy and make sure your voice is heard on this legislation.

Sincerely,
Sandy Whisler, Lake Mills
