Keynote Speaker: John Nichols: The Journalist, the Author, and the Activist is one of the most influential and prolific journalists and authors in America. He has written over 20 books and thousands of articles on topics ranging from politics, history, culture, media, and social justice. He is a national affairs correspondent for The Nation, a contributing writer for The Progressive and In These Times, and an associate editor of The Capital Times, the daily newspaper in Madison, Wisconsin. He is also a co-founder and board member of Free Press, a non-profit organization that advocates for media reform and public interest journalism.
Nichols is not only a writer, but also an activist. He has been involved in various campaigns and movements for democracy, peace, human rights, and environmental protection. He has traveled to dozens of countries and interviewed hundreds of leaders, activists, and ordinary people. He has also appeared frequently on radio and TV shows, such as The Ed Show, Up with Chris Hayes, The Thom Hartmann Program, and Democracy Now!, where he offers his insights and opinions on current events and issues.
Nichols is not afraid to challenge the status quo and speak truth to power. He has exposed the corruption and hypocrisy of the political and economic elites, the failures and biases of the mainstream media, and the injustices and inequalities that plague the society. He has also celebrated the achievements and struggles of the people who resist and create alternatives to the dominant system. He has inspired and informed millions of readers and listeners with his passion, courage, and wisdom.
