As I watched the news clips of the Republican Convention, horror overcame me as Donald Trump demanded the masses pledge allegiance to “the greatest president in history”. As the crowd raised their hands and faithfully repeated his pledge, images came into my head of the masses of Germans pronouncing their loyalty to Adolf Hitler, yelling “Heil Hitler” with outstretched arms in a Nazi salute.
Then I started thinking of our own representatives, who also pledge their support to our mentally ill sociopath, Donald Trump. People like Scott Fitzgerald and Tom Tiffany. These guys refuse to do their sworn duty to hold this president in check and hold him accountable.
Tiffany still insists the 2020 election was stolen. Neither of these guys will insist on prosecuting servicemen and officers for the war crimes committed over a year ago when we bombed a supposed drug boat (with no evidence) and then bombed again the survivors clinging to wreckage. That is a clear war crime. When I confronted Scott Fitzgerald about this, he claims that our bombing of boats in international waters is perfectly legal. If that’s the case, then I guess Cuba would have the right to bomb luxury yachts leaving Miami by just declaring that there are drugs on board. What’s wrong with the brains of these extremists?
Neither Scott Fitzgerald nor Tom Tiffany objected when ICE agents shot and killed US citizens. And ICE agents continue to shoot and murder civilians to this day. Nor did they object to the pardoning of January 6th rioters, criminals, and insurrectionists.
I have personal knowledge of an undocumented immigrant who is married to a US citizen with two children and has been working in this country for 20 years. He was arrested at a Home Depot and sent off to one of the concentration camps in this country where he is being severely mistreated. Meanwhile, his wife and kids are struggling, lost their home and are now homeless. This is happening day in and day out under Trump’s draconian deportation orders. Tiffany and Fitzgerald fully support this behavior. It’s one thing to want the border closed, and quite another to support these anti-Christian crimes against humanity.
Please vote. And vote these guys out of office. Vote for David Crowley for governor and Andy Beck for congress.
